ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Despite a career and game-high 21 points from freshman guard Koree Cotton, the VMI men's basketball team fell 67-47 at Navy Wednesday night in non-conference action.
Cotton, who has reached double figures in the last seven games, surpassed his previous collegiate best of 18 points set Saturday against Clarks Summit University. He also tied a career high with four three-pointers.
Despite Cotton's impressive performance, the Midshipmen (10-3) controlled the game from start to finish, leading by as many as 24 points in the second half. Navy shot 47.7% from the field, including 8-of-16 from three-point range, and outrebounded the Keydets (3-10) 40-25.
Senior guard Cam Davis added 12 points for VMI, while sophomore forward Myles Evans chipped in with 8 points and 5 rebounds.
The Keydets will return to action on Saturday, December 3, when they host Longwood University at 4:00 p.m.
